TANGERANG - The Tangerang Regency Government (Pemkab) has discussed the construction of water reservoirs or reservoirs to target residential areas.

Head of the Department of Highways and Water Resources (DBMSDA) Tangerang Regency, Iwan Firmansyah, said the development was to anticipate the problem of drought during the dry season. Including the result of the phenomenon of El Nino.

"We will later engineer water storage buildings or reservoirs in several places, including in residential areas," he said in Tangerang, Monday, July 24, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the design for the construction of the reservoir would later be carried out at several points. Among them will be worked on in residential areas, government centers to agricultural areas.

"Later we will build it in residential areas, then in the center of government and there will also be some points later that we can revitalize the existing reservoirs," he said.

He said, in this case the Tangerang regional government had coordinated with other related parties such as the PUPR Ministry to support the development.

"Later, we will synergize, collaborate and coordinate with related parties. Because so far our territory is too wide so that the reach or monitoring is too far. That's why we provide referrals to them (the relevant ministries)," he said.

Iwan added, in addition to the construction of reservoirs, to support the Tangerang Regency Government's agricultural sector, it also normalizes irrigation channels.

"This year alone, we have carried out 30 dredging activities, including those in small irrigation activities," he said.

Previously, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Tangerang Regency, Banten has now begun mapping areas prone to drought due to the long dry season as a result of El Nino.

The mapping step taken by his party aims to make it easier to anticipate and distribute aid to people affected by this natural phenomenon.

"Of course this step is taken to make it easier for us to handle and anticipate the drought," said Head of BPBD Tangerang Regency Ujat Sudrajat.

He conveyed that the northern areas of Tangerang that have been included in the mapping affected by El Nino include Teluknaga, Kronjo, Pakuhaji, Kisambi, Gunung Kaler, Kresek and Rajeg sub-districts. From some of these areas, he continued, in general, the drought that occurred had an impact on the community's clean water needs.

Nevertheless, his party also appealed to the public to start intensifying water-saving movements and to be able to take advantage of the rain that is still falling through the rainwater harvest movement and prepare a reserve water reservoir which can later be used for various needs during the peak of El Nino.
