2 Housewives In Cianjur Arrested By Police For Involved In TIP Syndicate To The Middle East

CIANJUR - Cianjur Police, West Java, arrested two housewives, namely Lina (31) and Yuli (36) residents of Cibeber District, for allegedly being involved in a syndicate of illegal migrant worker departures to a number of countries in the Middle East. Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Aszhari Kurniawan said the arrests of the two housewives began with reports from families who asked for accountability so that their family members who left for repatriation to Cianjur. "But both of them disappeared and lost responsibility, so the family reported the matter to the Cianjur Police Headquarters, one day after receiving the report, officers managed to arrest the two on Sunday," he said in Cianjur, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 6. Both of them received duties from FH (36), an Indonesian citizen (WNI) who lives in Syria to find as many workers as possible with the lure of a large salary and given a number of facilities. Currently FH is on the Cianjur Police Wanted List (DPO) After receiving prospective workers, both of them took care of documents and tourist visas to make it easier for prospective workers to reach Syria and a number of other countries in the Middle East. However, of the eight people from Cianjur who were dispatched, they asked to be sent home. "The promises given by both are not proven because most of them only receive salaries below Rp. 5 million which were previously promised above Rp. 10 million per month, plus they often receive harsh treatment from employers," he said. The perpetrators collaborated with FH (36) DPOs who currently live in Syria, so that when the prospective workers in Syria arrived, FH would distribute them to potential employers, for legal proceedings against FH, his party would coordinate with the Indonesian Embassy. "We will coordinate with the Indonesian Embassy in Syria regarding the whereabouts of FH, currently the suspect has been included in the DPO of the Cianjur Police. Meanwhile, regarding a number of migrant workers who asked to be sent home, we have coordinated with the Cianjur Regency Government," he said. Meanwhile, the two housewives who are arrested will be subject to articles 4 and 10 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 21 of 2007 concerning Trafficking in Persons junto article 81 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 18 of 2017 concerning the protection of Indonesian migrant workers.

"Both of them are threatened with 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 15 billion," said Aszhari.
