JAKARTA - Faunaland Ancol's management clarified a viral video showing a lion looking limp and walking limp until it fell inside the cage.

This video was uploaded to the Jakut_update Instagram account. A number of netizens gave negative comments. They accused the management of not feeding the animal.

Faunaland Operations Director Adam Makalani Kasali confirmed that the limp state of the lion named Thori was caused by congenital defects since birth in the hip or hip dysplasia.

"We want to clarify the misunderstanding that is circulating on social media regarding Thori's condition, a lion that is undergoing treatment here. We want to emphasize that the lion is in special care due to a birth congenital defect," Adam said in his statement, Tuesday, May 30.

Adam said that Thori only experienced physical disorders like this. Meanwhile, the Thori family of other white lions is very healthy and in excellent condition.

"In Faunaland's rules, each disabled animal has the right and opportunity to live. We have never chosen the option of euthanasia or ending the lives of the disabled animals," he said.

Adam explained that Faunaland also has other defective animals entrusted to the state, such as a Javan leopard which only has three legs and birds with deformed wings.

"We care for all these disabled animals with care and not cheap treatment," he added.
