JAKARTA - Ahead of eleven days before the race, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) has not yet revealed the list of official Formula E or Jakarta E-Prix 2023 sponsors.

This resulted in the suspicion that many parties were not interested in participating in sponsoring the electric car race which was held in the second year in Jakarta.

Member of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PDIP faction, Ima Mahdiah, said that Jakpro as the organizer should anticipate this kind of impression.

Bearing in mind, the issue of lack of sponsorship also developed in the 2022 Formula E event.

"This is actually a recurring problem. If it is related, I will return it to the organizing committee so that later it becomes a wild issue that this performance is like last year's show, which is empty of sponsorship enthusiasts," said Ima, Monday, May 22.

Ima emphasized that Jakpro must be able to show potential sponsors public interest in the Formula E race. With that, according to him, sponsors will be sure to invest in this year's race.

Moreover, this year's Formula E racing event is no longer being handled by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government because it has used the Jakpro business to business (B2B) scheme.

"All problems must be resolved by B2B. We do not allow this performance to still use the DKI Regional Budget," said Ima.

The DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono said the same thing when responding to Formula E ticket sales a month before the new race sold 40 percent.

The DKI Provincial Government does not want to interfere in dealing with ticket sales that have not been sold out. DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono emphasized that Formula E is no longer a government activity.

Different from 2022, Formula E this year has a business to business (B2B) scheme between PT Jakarta Propertindo BUMD and Formula E Operation.

"That's actually the program of BUMD Jakpro with B2B. So, local governments are not involved at all," said Joko when met at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, May 11.

When Formula E was planned for the time of Anies Baswedan to serve as Governor of DKI, the commitment fee of Rp560 billion was indeed disbursed by the DKI Provincial Government through the APBD. However, Joko emphasized that his party is no longer allocating any budget for the electric car racing event.

"Now the local government has no longer issued a small amount for the current implementation of Formula E. That is their business (Jakpro)," he said.
