Police Arrest Jambret Specialist Of Foreign Tourist Necklaces In Kuta

The Kuta Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit team, Badung Regency, Bali arrested a theft or robbery specialist in foreign tourist necklaces on vacation in the Kuta area, Bali.

Kuta Police Chief Kompol Yogie Pramagita said the perpetrator I Made Kanta (35) was arrested after a tourist from Australia Sonja Jean totaling (45) reported the theft incident he experienced on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in the Seminyak Kuta area, Badung.

"After the interrogation, the perpetrator admitted that he had committed the theft twice. However, we will further investigate the crime scene or other crimes that may not have been recognized by the suspect," Yogie said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 22.

Yogie said that apart from stealing Australian foreigners, the IMK suspect had also stolen gold necklaces belonging to tourists from India.

"Both are necklaces. The person concerned is indeed snatching a foreign specialist necklace. The Indian one also wears a gold necklace," said Yogie.

Furthermore, said Yogie, after forcibly stealing Australian tourist gold necklaces, the perpetrators immediately sold them.

The money from the sale of the necklace was used by the perpetrators to buy clothes, pay debts and participate in cockfighting gambling.

Yogie explained that the suspect who worked odd jobs was determined to steal at crowded hours, namely in the afternoon targeting foreigners who were wearing gold necklaces. Likewise when the suspect stole the Australian foreigner necklace.

Using an Nmax motorbike with the police number DK 6465 FAH gray, the IMK suspect forcibly pulled a necklace weighing 4 grams belonging to the SJS victim so that the victim suffered a material loss of Rp6,500,000.

After the victim SJS reported the incident to the Kuta Police, the police immediately went to the scene to check CCTV. After checking CCTV and witnesses, the police then checked the identity of the perpetrator.

The perpetrator was also arrested while relaxing in the Kuta area. After being interrogated, the perpetrator admitted that he had committed the theft of foreigners.

Currently, the suspect is being held at the Kuta Police to undergo further investigation. He also faces up to five years in prison for allegedly violating Article 363 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding theft and weighting.
