JAKARTA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that President Prabowo Subianto plans to allocate a portion of the profits of the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) to help support the State Budget (APBN).
According to Purbaya, the plan will begin to be implemented in 2026. However, he has not explained in detail the mechanism that will be used and is still waiting for further instructions from the President.
"Some of this year has also been there. But later we will see the instructions of the President," he told the media, quoted Thursday, July 13.
Based on data from the Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR) of the Ministry of Finance, the government's debt position as of June 30, 2026 was recorded at Rp. 10,293.69 trillion or equivalent to 41.26 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
This amount increased by around IDR 373.27 trillion compared to the position as of March 31, 2026 which reached IDR 9,920.42 trillion.
Purbaya said that part of Danantara's profits could be placed as a government reserve to help reduce the country's debt burden.
"The president's idea is to place part of Danantara's profits for the government's reserves so that it can reduce our debt as well," he said.
Purbaya also denied the assumption that the policy emerged because the government's cash condition was limited and confirmed that the government still had a large amount of funds in the bank.
"He said he wanted to be told to reduce debt. As soon as there is a tool to reduce debt, it is noisy. No, my money is still a lot in the bank, there is Rp. 400 trillion now," he said.
According to Purbaya, the utilization of Danantara's profits is part of efforts to increase the efficiency of state revenue management while maintaining the sustainability of the state budget in the long term.
"So we are increasing the efficiency of our revenue, and want to make our budget in the future more sustainable. We use all means, including revenue from Danantara," he explained.
Although the policy is said to have started to be implemented in 2026, Purbaya has not revealed how much Danantara's profits have been or will be deposited to the government because it is still under discussion between the Ministry of Finance and Danantara.
Previously, the dividends of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) became one of the state budget revenues through Non-Tax State Revenues (PNBP) derived from the Separated State Assets (KND). However, after the management of BUMN assets and investments was in the Danantara scheme, the mechanism underwent changes.
Through this new scheme, part of the SOE's profits can be managed by Danantara for investment and asset development needs.
However, with the plan to change the mechanism, the government also opens the opportunity for part of the profits from the management to contribute back to the state budget.
The change in this mechanism also changes the pattern of the relationship between SOEs, Danantara, and the State Budget, so that the government not only gets SOE dividends as a source of income, but also has the potential to benefit from the results of asset management and investments carried out by Danantara.
