BPOM Ensures Food Supervision Of Heads Of State During ASEAN Summit In Labuan Bajo

LABUAN BAJO - The Center for Drug and Food Supervision (BPOM) ensures the supervision of food eaten by ASEAN heads of state in the holding of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara. "The POM location in West Manggarai Regency will be involved in supervising and securing the food that will be served to the President and Vice President as well as the state guests who will attend, as was done in the G-20 yesterday," said Head of the West Manggarai POM Loka, Andirusmin Nuryudin who was contacted from Labuan Bajo, Antara, Friday, April 28. The 42nd ASEAN Summit will take place from 9 to 11 May 2023 in Labuan Bajo. In this activity, ASEAN heads of state will attend and live in Labuan Bajo. To ensure food safety for heads of state, BPOM, in this case Loka POM West Manggarai will monitor food to be safe from eight types of harmful content. The parameters tested later are Cyanide, Nitrit, Arsen, Timbal, Formalin, Borak, Rhodamin B, and Methanil Yellow. The food security system for food for heads of state is carried out through testing food three hours earlier. If samples of food tested are safe from eight types of harmful content, then food can be served to the head of state. The results of the test were also coordinated with the Presidential Security Forces to be declared fit or unserveable.

"The POM Manggarai Barat loka is committed to being ready to collaborate and synergize in strengthening food security in the West Manggarai region, including Labuan Bajo together with cross-sectors related both in terms of supervision and food testing," he said.
