Create A Transjakarta Tariff Increase Survey, DKI Transportation Agency: Just Check Waves

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency has conducted a survey regarding the public's response to the increase in Transjakarta rates, through its social media accounts.

Through its official Instagram account, the DKI Transportation Agency provides an option to answer the Transjakarta tariff increase that netizens can choose.

The first question is whether the public agrees if the Transjakarta BRT and non-BRT and Transjabodetabek bus fares increase to IDR 4,000 throughout the day or IDR 5000 throughout the day or IDR 4000 at 05.00 WIB-19.00 WIB or IDR 5,000 at 19.00 WIB-22.00 WIB.

The second question is that people are asked to answer whether or not they agree if the Microtrans rate at 05.00 WIB-07.00 WIB increases to Rp 1000 or Rp 2000.

This raises the question, will it be possible that the Transjakarta tariff will be increased? Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, replied that his party only checked how netizens would respond if the Transjakarta rate increased.

"Regarding the tariff increase survey (Transjakarta), we are just checking the waves and we hope this is an material for our evaluation," said Syafrin when met at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Monday, April 3.

Syafrin explained that the discourse on increasing Transjakarta rates began with the proposed Jakarta City Transportation Council (DTKJ) which views the transportation mode tariffs managed by the DKI Provincial Government.

DTKJ, continued Syafrin, proposed an increase because Transjakarta rates had not increased since a dozen years ago. Meanwhile, other modes of transportation such as KRL Commuter Line are planned to increase by Rp2000 from Rp5000 to Rp5000.

"The reason is that seeing the existing Transjakarta tariff of Rp. 3500 since 2007 not going up temporarily, on the other hand, transportation mode rates such as KRL will increase. Of course we have to do that related check and check and check and of course there is an internal survey," explained Syafrin.
