For Gibran Rakabuming, Gimhae City in South Korea and Solo Have Something In Common

SOLO - The Surakarta City Government is exploring sister city cooperation or twin cities in the field of culture with South Korea. The city chosen was Gimhae.

"We have proposed (submitted) several agreements for a 'sister city' in the field of culture", said Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka after entertaining South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Lee Sang Deok at Pracima Tuin Mangkunegaran Solo, Central Java, Wednesday, February 15 as reported Between.

He said that Gimhae was chosen because the city has a strong enough culture.

"Those who are more active invite us (to work together)", he said.

Gimhae and Solo have something in common, namely that both are not big cities but are strong in culture.

Apart from the twin cities, the two also discussed the investment of several South Korean companies in Central Java, one of which is Batang.

"He said earlier, now that many Korean companies have moved to Batang, he told me that. Solo mostly, he also knew that there are a lot of textiles here. He said it was good. But he talked a lot about Batang, that's why he went to the governor's place first and then came here", he said.

Meanwhile, Lee Sang Deok said the visit was to enhance cooperation with Indonesia, especially the city of Solo.

"This year is my first time dealing with Korea-Indonesia diplomatic relations. Through this opportunity we want to improve relations with Indonesia", he said.

He said that last year he had started a meeting with President Jokowi in Bali.

"And he has succeeded in bringing relations between these countries closer. So we will make this year better for a higher level", he said.

He said Indonesia had become one of the investment destinations for South Korea, such as in Batang. He estimates there will be more companies from South Korea to invest more in Indonesia.
