JAKARTA - The Chinese authorities have cut the quarantine period for international travelers while still tightening the policy of dynamically tightening zero-case COVID-19 policy. There are 20 new policies related to the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic which came into effect on Friday, November 11.

One of the latest policies is to cut the quarantine period for international flight users who have just arrived in Beijing.

Previously, international arrivals were required to undergo a centralized quarantine for seven days plus a monitored quarantine for three days (7+3).

So international travelers arriving in China on Friday will only undergo 5+3 quarantine.

Quarantine cuts from 7+3 to 5+3 also apply to close contact cases.

Likewise, the mandatory PCR test before flying to China is enough to do it once in 48 hours. Previously it had to be twice in 48 hours.

The latest policy was issued after the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) held a meeting on Thursday, November 10.

During the meeting, the ruling party elite in China decided to reaffirm the dynamic zero-case COVID-19 policy, prioritizing the prevention of transmission as soon as possible so that people's lives can run productively, promoting vaccination, and continuing to develop research related to COVID-19 drugs.

Quoted from ANTARA, on Thursday in China it was reported that there were 10,535 new local positive cases. The city of Guangzhou, which is the main entry point for international arrivals in the southern region of China, contributed the most positive cases, with 2,358 cases as of Thursday.
