6 People Prevented Overseas Allegedly Related to Position Auction Bribery with Bangkalan Regent Suspect

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to prevent six people from leaving the country, including Bangkalan Regent Abdul Latif Amin Imron. They were prevented because they were suspected of being related to the alleged bribery in the auction of positions in Bangkalan Regency, East Java.

"KPK has asked the Directorate General of Immigration to prevent six people from traveling abroad. Among them, the Bangkalan Regent and several heads of services within the Bangkalan Regency Government", said KPK News Section Head Ali Fikri in a written statement, Monday, October 31.

Ali said the prevention was carried out for six months until April 2024. The KPK asked those who were prevented from going abroad to cooperate.

They are expected to comply with the investigator's summons if asked to attend. Moreover, the extension of prevention can be implemented as needed.

"We hope that the parties concerned can cooperate in fulfilling the summons of the KPK investigators when a statement is needed to complete the dossier of this investigation", he said.

As previously reported, the KPK has searched several locations in Bangkalan Regency. Among them, are the Regional Personnel Agency Office, the Bangkalan Regent's Office, the Deputy Regent's office, the Regional Secretary's office, and the Regent's official residence to the Bangkalan Regent's private house.

Head of the Regional Personnel Agency and Apparatus Resources Development Agency (BKDPSDA) of the Bangkalan Regency Government, Agus Leandy, stated that the search was related to the position auction assessment. This is based on documents confiscated by investigators.

In addition, the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) has prevented Bangkalan Regent Abdul Latif Amin Imron from going abroad. Prevention is carried out for six months until April 2022 at the request of the KPK.

"The person in question is on the prevention list at the suggestion of the KPK", said the Head of the Sub-section of the Directorate General of Immigration, Ahmad Nursaleh, to reporters, Wednesday, October 26.
