PSI Explains There Is A Village Head Asking For Donations To Residents, Call It Anies' Order

JAKARTA - Member of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Justin Untayana, revealed that one urban village in Jakarta asked for donations from residents who were taking care of population documents.

This was revealed by Justin when he received complaints from residents. The resident admitted that he was asked for donations by the lurah in his domicile when he took care of the certificate.

Justin admitted that he had visited the related village. Apparently, the lurah admitted that his request for donations was an order from the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan.

"The Lurah's claim, in the Governor's order, that a target was set to collect approximately Rp. 88 million for zakat, and Rp. 55 million for the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI)," Justin told reporters, Thursday, September 22.

Justin regrets this action. This is because this has the potential to create an assumption in the community that the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government are still carrying out extortion actions.

“In the past, people often faced extortion, not now people are charged for donations. I'm afraid the public will feel like this is extortion but wrapped in a donation title," Justin said.

"The task of the Lurah is already heavy enough to serve the very large population of DKI residents, so it is better not to burden them with the task of seeking money from the public, this is feared to degrade the image of professional public servants," he continued.

On that basis, Justin admitted that he would write to Anies asking for an explanation regarding orders to his subordinates seeking donations and setting the amount of the donations that must be obtained.

"I do not hinder anyone's good intentions for social activities, but it is not very good when public servants are assigned to make money and even set donation income targets," he said.
