A 15-meter landslide was buried, now the Lebak-Sukabumi road can be crossed by vehicles

BANTEN - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that the road linking Lebak-Sukabumi can now be passed by vehicles after the landslide material that had closed the road in the area was completed.

"All the landslide material covering the road that connects the provinces has been dredged by heavy equipment", said Head of the Lebak Regency BPBD Emergency and Logistics Section, Agus Reza Faisal, in Lebak, Banten, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 20.

Landslides up to 15 meters high blocked local roads following heavy rains accompanied by lightning on Monday afternoon, September 19 in the area.

In the incident on the road, in Sukamulya Village, Cibeber District, there were no fatalities or injuries.

The road that connects Lebak-Sukabumi, he said, is indeed prone to landslides because there are many cliffs and hills. Most of these roads cross the area of Mount Halimun Salak National Park (TNGHS).

"We ask the transport drivers if the weather is bad, they should rest and stop the trip to prevent avalanches and trees falling", he said.

He explained that the handling of the avalanche material involved TNI personnel, BPBD, PUPR, and the community supported by the use of heavy equipment.

He asked residents to stay alert to weather developments because until next week there is a chance of heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the afternoon.

"We are coordinating with related agencies to catch landslides on roads that connect between provinces", he said.
