JAKARTA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw said two students were shot victims of an unknown person (OTK) in Sinak, Puncak Regency, one of whom died.

"It is true that there were reports of two students becoming victims of the OTK shooting on Friday, November 20 in Sinak, one of whom died," said Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw as quoted by Antara, in Jayapura, Saturday, November 21.

However, the Kapolda said that the police could not confirm who the shooting perpetrator was. Kapolda has ordered an investigation of the case to the Puncak Police.

Because of its remote location, according to Paulus, it will take time, let alone the geographical conditions. Even so, investigators will carry out an investigation into the case.

The two victims were high school students in Puncak Regency. Previously, Kapen Kogabwilhan III Col. CZI IGN Suriastawa said that KKB was the perpetrator of the shooting of civilians in Sinak.

"From the reports we received, the shooting was carried out by KKB," said Colonel CZI Suriastawa.

The KKB action was allegedly motivated by intimidation towards the community because it did not receive support from local residents and as an attempt to distort the facts by accusing security forces of being the perpetrators.

"Reversing the facts and playing the victim through the mass media have always been a trick by pro-KKB groups and their supporters at home and abroad to corner the Indonesian government," said Kapen Kogabwilhan III Col. CZI Suriastawa.
