SDI Asks The Government To Strictly Take Actions On Persons And Mass Organizations Who Harass State Assets

JAKARTA - The number of cases of misuse of state assets and the rise of land cases have attracted the attention of a number of parties. Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Democratic Union (SDI) Andrean said that currently, land rights and state assets are widely misused. According to him, there are elements and mass organizations (ormas) that play a role.

"One example is the case like what happened in Surabaya," said Andrean, quoting Antara, Monday, July 25.

Andrean explained that people who use land and official residences for state assets do not carry out their obligations to pay rent, when there is a change in regulations set by the tenant.

"Instead of paying rent, they even take refuge in community organizations to protect their interests," he said.

According to Andrean, before the organization existed, the people who used the land and official residences for state assets were orderly in paying rent and there were no problems, but today it's the other way around.

"I deeply regret it. Organizations should have a role in educating the public so that there is law and order, not the other way around," said Andrean.

In fact, he continued, in PP No. 40 of 1994 concerning the State House in Article 17 paragraphs 1 and 2 has regulated the mechanism for submitting the transfer of rights.

Andrean said that until now his party is trying to maintain and realize democratization in the field of better infrastructure. It even helps in overcoming injustices regarding land conflicts or state assets in Indonesia.

He hoped that the government should be firm in taking action against irresponsible individuals who harm the country. Then, the community must also be aware of their rights and obligations.

"If they don't want to pay rent, then they don't have the right to occupy the area. In the case of the state, if the residents don't pay rent, it will cause harm to the state and have an impact on society."

"When the state can maximize its assets, the community can get subsidies," he concluded.
