Prevent Corruption, People Don't Seduce ASN With Alms Money For The Poor

JAKARTA - Chairman of the State Civil Apparatus Commission (ASN), Agus Pramusinto, said corruption among ASN occurs not only from ASN individuals but also from people who ask for convenience in the bureaucracy.

"When it comes to public services, corruption can be reduced if the public is also aware not to tempt ASN by asking for facilities outside the rules by giving bribes", Agus wrote in a short message received in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, July 19.

ASN's job is to serve the community. The community has the right to get the best service, but not by giving something outside of their obligations. "If you have more money, donate it to the poor, not to bribe officials", he said.

He also asked ASN not to accept anything from residents related to services if it is not their right. Agus emphasized that the welfare of ASN was guaranteed so that it could not be a reason to encourage him to corrupt.

"Many of the perpetrators of corruption are officials with more than enough income", he said.

Sanctions obtained by ASN when committing criminal acts of corruption have also been regulated in Law no. 5 of 2014 concerning State Civil Apparatus.

In the Law, Article 87 paragraph 4 states that ASN can be dismissed with the honor due to imprisonment or confinement based on a court decision that has permanent legal force (Inkracht) for committing a crime of office.

Furthermore, the sentence given by the applicable law in the article is a minimum of two years in prison.
