JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) believes that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) under the leadership of Firli Bahuri et al. has never sought a fugitive in the case of interim replacement bribery (PAW) DPR member Harun Masiku. The former legislative candidate for the 2019 General Election (Pemilu) has been on the run for 900 days.

"We are very sure that Harun Masiku was never actually wanted by the KPK", ICW Coordinator Kurnia Ramadhana told reporters at the KPK's Mearh Putih Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 28.

Kurnia even assessed that Firli Bahuri and KPK officials had only made rhetorical statements about the search for Harun.

"A number of previous KPK fugitives who could be arrested by the KPK, one of them is the former General Treasurer of the Democratic Party, M. Nazaruddin, if I'm not mistaken (arrested, ed) within 77 days", said the anti-corruption activist.

"It's been 900 days why can't the KPK arrest (Harun Masiku, ed)? We are absolutely sure that until the end of Firli Bahuri's term of office, Harun Masiku will never be caught by the KPK", added Kurnia.

In commemoration of the 900th day of searching for Harun, ICW also performed a theatrical action in front of the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

Anti-corruption activists were seen wearing masks with the faces of five KPK leaders. In addition, there is also someone who wears an Harun Masiku mask and walks in front of the leaders.

As previously reported, the KPK has named Harun Masiku as a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan since January 2020. This bribery was carried out so that he could easily sit as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives through interim shifts or PAW.

Harun's escape began when the KPK carried out an arrest operation regarding this case on January 8, 2020. In the silent operation, the KPK named four suspects, namely Harun Masiku, Wahyu Setiawan, former Bawaslu Member Agustiani Tio Fridelina, and Saeful Bahri.

However, Harun, who was not caught by OTT, is unknown. He reportedly fled to Singapore and is said to have returned to Indonesia.

Apart from Harun, there are actually three other fugitives who have not been caught. They are Surya Darmadi who has been on the run since 2019; Izil Azhar has been fugitive since 2018; and Kirana Kotama who has been fugitive since 2017.
