Car Racing On Jalan Asia Afrika Senayan Starts Again, Police Will Take Strict Action

JAKARTA - The Traffic Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police will take action against the perpetrators of illegal car racing along Asia Afrika Street, in front of Senayan City, Gelora Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta, soon.

The car race is accused of causing traffic jams, disturbing residents, and threatening the safety of road users.

In fact, the unlicensed activity was sterile after the creation of a traffic security post. But recently it happened again on Friday, June 24, early in the morning.

One of the residents said that when the evening approaches the weekend, young drag race car enthusiasts gather on Asia Afrika Street.

"It's usually crowded on Thursday nights, Friday nights, and Saturday nights. They usually start after 24.00. They start in front of Senayan City, there are usually two cars racing on a straight track", said one source, Friday, June 24.

The crowd is unavoidable even the night before the morning. The audience consisted of teenage boys and girls. They often watch on the side of Asia Afrika Street, to see two cars competing at speed.

Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit, Commissioner Purwanta, said that his party would take firm action soon.
