Fugitive Japanese Police Mitsuhiro Taniguchi Deported Immediately

JAKARTA - The National Police said that the fugitive from the Japanese police, Mitsuhiro Taniguchi, had been handed over to the Immigration Office for the administrative process. So, in the near future, the fugitive in the case of the COVID-19 subsidy fraud case will be immediately deported.

"Then, they were secured and this morning at 5 o'clock they arrived at Imgirasi. Today the administration was asked for information," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo at the House of Representatives (DPR), Wednesday, June 8.

If the administrative process is completed, the Immigration authorities who have the authority will deport Mitsuhiro Tamaguchi. Of course, by coordinating first with the Japanese authorities.

"Only later after the Immigration administration will deport him," he said.

In the deportation process, the Police will be involved. However, it is limited to assistance so that unwanted things don't happen.

"Later, it will be accompanied by the police and will be handed over to the Japanese police," said Dedi.

Mitsuhiro Taniguchi has been detained in the Kalirejo area, Central Lampung. His whereabouts were discovered after an inspection of the data of crossings in and out of Indonesia was carried out.

The fugitive from the Japanese police was secured by a joint team from Bandar Lampung Immigration, Kalirejo Police, and Central Lampung Police, on Tuesday, June 7, at around 22.30 p.m. GMT+7 (Western Indonesian Time or WIB).

Mitsuhiro Taniguchi is a fugitive for the COVID-19 subsidy fund fraud case. He is called the mastermind of the crime because he gave orders to the three suspects who had been arrested in the fraud case.

They, namely, Rie Taniguchi (45), Daiki (22), and a man whose name has not been disclosed by the police.

The trio received orders from Mitsuhiro to file fake tax returns on behalf of people who had registered with the tax office. Then, they go through the procedure to get the subsidy.
