Affirming The Right To Inquiry Proposal Is Not A Political Action, PKS Insinuates Trade Minister Lutfi Who Promises To Announce The Migor Mafia

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction in the DPR is driving the submission of the right of inquiry on cases of scarcity and high prices of cooking oil. PKS faction member, Mardani Ali Sera, said that his party would invite other factions because the right of inquiry was not a political act.

"We will invite other parties to join hands. This (Pansus) is not a political action. This is a participatory action to hear the voice of the community," Mardani said to reporters, Wednesday, March 23.

Mardani then quipped Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi who had said he would announce a candidate for a suspect in the kerosene mafia. According to him, Lutfi's statement only made noise because it was not disclosed to the public.

"Call it (the cooking oil mafia, ed) you have to be brave, don't just say it, it's a conversation, but it's not productive," said Mardani.

"If that's what you call politicizing. If you're politicizing, it's not the domain because you're an executive," he added.

The Legislator for the DKI Jakarta I Dapil assessed that the current condition of cooking oil seemed to prove the weakness of government supervision. According to Mardani, the government does not have the 'tooth' to ensure the availability of cooking oil.

"This increasingly shows the weakness of the state because its roots are in upstream to downstream supervision by other parties. It is permissible to call it mafia, it is permissible to call it criminal criminals, because this is extraordinary, cooking oil," said Mardani.

Mardani admits that he is concerned that the public is now increasingly faced with the high price of cooking oil. Because it's no secret, Indonesia is the largest producer of crude palm oil (CPO) in the world.

"It means that it is even more influential and it is very sad for the community, even though we are the largest CPO producer in the world," concluded Mardani.
