Ayla car thief who was caught by the Serang City Police by using a GPS Tracker

SERANG CITY - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Serang City Police has arrested the perpetrator of the theft of the Daihatsu Ayla car number A 1445 KJ belonging to the victim AHM (41) which was parked in Magersari, Kota Baru Village, Serang City District.

Serang City Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Maruli Ahiles Hutapea said the perpetrator was arrested at his home in Jonggol area, Bogor regency, West Java, on Wednesday, March 16.

"The perpetrator AH was arrested not far from his house in Sukamanah Village, Jonggol District, Bogor Regency, West Java," said Maruli Ahiles Hutapea in a written statement, Monday, March 21.

Maruli added that the perpetrators deliberately came from Bogor to Serang just to steal a car.

"The perpetrator deliberately came from Bogor to Serang City to monitor and find the target car that he could steal," he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Serang Police, Insp. Irwan, said that the stolen car was a rental car.

"From the vehicle owner's statement that the vehicle is a rental car, where the perpetrator stole when the car was parked in front of the tenant's house in the Magersari neighborhood," said Insp. Irwan.

The police, who received a report from the victim, immediately launched an investigation. As a result, officers managed to identify the whereabouts of the victim's car through GPS tracker technology.

"The car's whereabouts are known based on the GPS installed on the car. And the location is in Jonggol. Based on this information, the team immediately moved and secured the perpetrator AH (40) along with evidence of a Daihatsu Ayla car and eleven letter T keys," said Insp. Irwan.

For his actions, the perpetrator AH (40) was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code, namely theft with a weight with a penalty of 7 years in prison.
