6 Bripda Rio Attackers Joined In The Kampung Bahari Motorcycle Gang 'GOPSTR17'

JAKARTA - Six of the 14 suspected perpetrators of the beating of members of the Directorate of Water Police (Ditpolair) of the Indonesian National Police, Bripda Rio Novemberyanto were finally arrested. Apparently, this perpetrator is part of a motorcycle gang from Kampung Bahari, GOPSTR17.

"The six perpetrators are members of the GOPSTR17 gang. In their daily lives, the perpetrators live in Kampung Bahari, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta," said the North Jakarta Police Chief,

Kombes Wibowo at the Central Jakarta Police Headquarters, Antara, Friday, January 14.

The six GOPSTR17 members arrested were WSK, DA, RAP, YA, MAD and HMF. They have been named as suspects. The beating case began when Bripda Rio was about to break up a fight that was going on between the suspect and the initial victims, namely A and P.

The fight took place on January 1, 2022 at around 16.30 WIB in front of a warteg on Jalan Ende, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. At that time A and P met a group of perpetrators who rode motorbikes that used quite a number of roads.

The motorcycle gang did not accept it when the two initial victims drove their motorbikes.

"When they passed, the victim drove the vehicle and got a direct response from the group of perpetrators, namely shouts and chases by the group of perpetrators against the victim," said Wibowo.

The beating took place on Jalan Ende when Bripda Rio, who saw the actions of the perpetrators intending to intervene, was actually beaten by the suspects. Even his cell phone was stolen after the incident.

According to Wibowo, the beating happened spontaneously because at that time Bripda Rio was thought to be a group of A and P who intended to defend the two. In fact, Bripda Rio is carrying out his duties as a member of the National Police's Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam).

The North Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit in collaboration with the Sub-Directorate of Crime and Violence of the Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda) immediately arrested the suspects of beatings after the investigation and evidence was collected.

"Thank God we have arrested 14 perpetrators," said Wibowo. Of the 14 arrested, six of them, namely the main suspects of the beating were arrested while hiding in the Subang area, West Java.

"Of the six main actors, two of them, namely MAD and HMF, are still minors and we are making arrests," said Wibowo.

Meanwhile, eight others were found to have helped the six main perpetrators escape. These eight people each had the initials SP, KG, KJ, ARS, AS, PY, AH and RP.

To the six main perpetrators, the police charged them with Article 170 of the Criminal Code regarding beatings and Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft by weight. The theft article was applied because the perpetrators also stole the mobile phone belonging to Bripda Rio after they beat them.

"Meanwhile, we imposed article 221 of the Criminal Code on the other eight people for hiding the perpetrators. They were not detained," said Wibowo.
