Bali Provincial Government Targets 3.4 Million Population Booster Vaccinations

DENPASAR - The Provincial Government of Bali has started to carry out a booster vaccination or a third dose of vaccination which will be carried out at the Wantilan in the Bali Regional Representative Council (DPRD).

"All those who meet the requirements will be vaccinated and in Bali, they have had the vaccine twice and it has reached 91 percent. There are already six months away, maybe those who meet the requirements will be vaccinated for free", said Bali Governor Wayan Koster, Wednesday, January 12.

The booster vaccination is carried out simultaneously in regencies and cities throughout Bali and targets 3.4 million Balinese people to carry out the booster vaccine. Meanwhile, there are four types of booster vaccines, namely Pfizer, Sinovac, Moderna, and AstraZeneca vaccines.

In addition, the public can also choose the type of vaccine for a booster.

"(The target) the sooner the better. If you look at the number of 3.4 million (the people) have no problem wanting to (choose), there are 4 types and they can choose", he said.

Koster said that currently, the stock of booster vaccine doses is more than 200 thousand. His party will coordinate with the Minister of Health so that the need for booster vaccination for Bali can be met according to the number of requirements or needs.

"For this booster, we have met the requirements for a complete vaccine twice and the distance is six months. So, there is no problem. We can do a booster, and the day we declare it and we will accelerate it within one month, two months into the future front", he said.

"We can really increase the target so that Bali will be really safe, comfortable, visited by domestic tourists. We will, of course, avoid or have a small risk from the spread of COVID-19. In particular, the new variant of Omicron. I hope that people who present here or anywhere, because this vaccination is free, don't hesitate to immediately follow the booster from today onwards", said Koster.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, Dr. Ketut Suarjaya, said that for a complete national dose of vaccination, it must reach 70 percent. While for the elderly it reaches 60 percent.

"Bali has passed. For (booster vaccine) the dose is half the dose of the routine vaccine", he said.

Meanwhile, for people who will carry out booster vaccinations, they can visit health facilities or health facilities as previously carried out in the Bali area.

The requirement for the first booster vaccination is 18 years and over. Then he has undergone a complete dose of vaccination and is more than six months apart and of course, when he did the booster vaccination he was in good health.
