DKI DPRD Requests Formula E Circuit Project Not To Use DKI Regional Budget

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) asked the organizing committee for Formula E not to use the DKI Jakarta Provincial Budget (APBD) for the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) project in Ancol with any financing scheme.

"The important thing is not to use the APBD", said Secretary of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta Provincial People's Representative Council (DPRD), Pandapotan Sinaga, when met by reporters while reviewing the location of the Formula E circuit project at Ancol Dreamland Park, Pademangan, North Jakarta on December 29.

Pandapotan also emphasized that his party would continue to stare at Formula E organizers not to use the DKI Jakarta Provincial APBD funds, considering that Jakarta is currently still recovering after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Sutikno, said that basically, his party faction in the DKI Jakarta DPRD supports the location of the Formula E event being held in DKI Jakarta if it does not use the APBD.

"The important thing is not to use the APBD only. I as the PKB faction support it. What is important is not to use the DKI Jakarta APBD. As stated by Jakpro, we use sponsorship funds", said Sutikno.

Several members of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD made a working visit to the Ancol Dreamland Park area to review JIEC Ancol.

Also present was the Chairman of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Abdul Aziz, members of Commission B of the DKI DPRD, Manuara Siahaan, Taufik Zulkifli, and Hasan Basri Umar.

Also seen were Managing Director of Formula E Gunung Kartiko, President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) Widi Amanasto and President Director of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol, Tbk Teuku Sahir Syahali.

The Working visit Committee of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Commission B immediately visited the east side of the Ancol tourist area where the electric car racing circuit will be built. The race is scheduled to be held in June 2022.

Director of Asset Management Jakpro as well as Managing Director of Formula E, Gunung Kartiko, said the construction of the 2.4-kilometer long circuit with a track width of 12 meters will start next January.

There is also a work target for three months or completed around April 2022.

"We make sure that the construction of the Formula E circuit will not come from the DKI APBD, but will use sponsorship funds", said Gunung.

He estimates that the construction of JIEC Ancol will cost around Rp. 100 billion.
