Fire Victims In Tambora Turns Out To Be Doctor, Criminal Investigation Unit Processing Crime Scene This Morning

JAKARTA – One of the victims of the fire on Tambora Street, West Jakarta, is a doctor. He was burnt to death along with 4 other family members.

The incident occurred on December 8, at around 05.00 western Indonesia time. Five people who became victims are known to be trapped on the 2nd floor. While an elderly man survived because at the time of the incident he was sleeping on the first floor.

The dead victims were Agus Sugianto (40), Wawa (37), Melan (81), Timothy (7), and Doycelyn (5). Agus is a doctor, and Wawa (Agus' wife) is a housewife. Melan is Agus' mother-in-law, and Timothy and Doycelyn, the children of the married couple. NM (81) is Agus' father-in-law who survived.

West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Grand Commissioner of Police Ady Wibowo said the victim had died at the National Police Hospital to be examined by the forensic team.

"Currently, the police line has carried out the house (which was on fire) to wait for the forensic laboratory results to check the location of the incident related to the cause of the fire," said Grand Commissioner Ady Wibowo to reporters, Wednesday, December 8.

From the results of the crime scene (TKP), it is suspected that the fire originated from an electrical short circuit. However, the police are still conducting more in-depth investigations. Reportedly this case is handled by the Criminal Investigation Police.

Tambora Police Chief, Commissioner M Faruk Razi explained, NM (Agus' father-in-law) is still recovering.

"In the meantime, we are carrying out psychological recovery. Then we will calm down and then we will slowly ask for information," said Faruk.

Faruk also added that his party was waiting for the Crime Scene Team from the Central Forensic Laboratory of National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, which was planned for today, with the National Police's Criminal Investigation Team to determine the cause of the fire.
