Escorting Labor Action, 400 Traffic Police Alerted At Several Points, Traffic Engineering Implemented

JAKARTA - Police have deployed 400 personnel to guard labor demonstrations at several points in Jakarta. At least, there are five locations that became the point of action.

"About 400 (traffic police personnel) in the House of Representatives (DPR), Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Ministry of Manpower, City Hall and the Horse Statue," said Traffic Director of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo when confirmed, Wednesday, December 8.

Apart from alerting personnel, a traffic flow scheme was also implemented. A number of roads were closed in the aftermath of the demonstration.

"Traffic engineering around the Horse Statue, because it is estimated that there will be quite a lot of laborers this time, we will start the closure from the intersection of MH Thamrin and Kebon Sirih," said Sambodo.

"Because after the Horse Statue, it is estimated that workers will also stop by around the City Hall. So it is possible that we will close Jalan Merdeka Selatan later," added Sambodo.

Then, several roads leading to the State Palace will also be closed. However, the closure is situational.

"As usual Gambir, Harmoni, and around the Palace roads are closed, but situationally," said Sambodo.

"We are still opening Budi Kemuliaan Road, Merdeka Selatan, Sarinah to the Horse Statue roundabout we are still opening," he continued.

On the other hand, the police also prepared several parking bags. This is because the majority of the crowd came to the action point using a rented bus.

"So we place the bus parking bags along Jalan Merdeka Selatan," said Sambodo.
