Regarding the Mal Pasang Pagar, Apindo: Not All, We Don't See There is Panic

JAKARTA - Apindo Chairman Shinta Widjaja Kamdani does not see the installation of a fence at the mall as a sign of widespread concern for business actors. According to him, so far not all malls have done the same thing.

Shinta conveyed this at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Friday, July 31, when asked about a number of malls that had started to put up fences.

He admitted that he had not spoken directly with the owner or manager of the mall who had put up the fence. However, Shinta suspected that the decision could have been taken for security reasons.

"I haven't talked to the owner yet. So maybe there are more reasons for security reasons, so that they can maintain the security situation," said Shinta.

Even so, he emphasized that Apindo had not seen the issue as a common symptom in the business world.

"This also doesn't happen in all malls. This is only one mall, and there may be reasons why it is fenced off," he said.

Shinta said mall managers have their own policies in maintaining the security of their business areas. Therefore, installing a fence does not automatically mean there is a certain threat.

According to Shinta, Apindo has also not received specific complaints from mall owners or developers regarding security issues.

"I haven't heard from the specific developer owner that there is a certain problem," said Shinta.

However, Apindo still opens the possibility of checking directly the reasons for the mall's management.

"But later we will probably check," he said.

Shinta emphasized that Apindo does not have the view that all shopping centers must tighten the area with a fence.

"We don't have any concerns that everyone has to fence or from that situation. No," he said.

According to Shinta, each mall can take security measures at any time according to their respective needs, not just because of today's situation.
