Calls Russia's Allegation Of Aggression False, Kremlin Hopes President Putin And President Biden To Talk Before The End Of The Year

JAKARTA - The Kremlin has called Russia's accusations of aggression wrong, insisting it will not attack other countries, with President Joe Biden's talks with President Vladimir Putin expected before the end of the year.

Allegations that Russia is planning to attack anyone are completely baseless, Russian President Dmitry Peskov's press secretary told TASS.

"Allegations of Russia planning to attack anyone and admonishing that it is behaving aggressively are completely baseless and false," he said, when asked to comment on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's statement that Russian President Vladimir Putin "should say publicly" that Russia has no plans to attack Ukraine, as quoted on November 29.

"Russia has never hatched, has not hatched and will never hatch a plan to attack anyone. Russia is a peaceful country, which is interested in good relations with its neighbors," he stressed.

According to Peskov, the allegations about Russia's aggressive plans may be intended to disguise the preparation of a forced scenario in Donbass, Ukraine.

"We are afraid and we have said this, that these accusations may be meant to hide (Ukraine's) own preparations for the power scenario in the Donbass. That would be total recklessness," he said.

He noted that the anti-Russian hysteria vented by the US, UK, and Ukrainian mass media and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was unacceptable.

"We think this hysteria, which is being stirred up in the US and British media, in the Ukrainian mass media and supported by Ukrainian politicians, including heads of state, is completely unacceptable," he said.

In addition, Peskov said he hoped President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin would speak via video link before the end of the year.

"We hope that communication will take place before the end of the year. There is no exact date. It is possible that a video conference will be held," Peskov was quoted as saying by Russia's RIA news agency.

Meanwhile, President Biden said on Friday he would "most likely" speak with President Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
