JAKARTA - The Riau Islands Provincial Government has prepared Rp2 billion for tourism promotion in order to attract foreign tourist visits to the local area in 2022.

The Rp2 billion fund included Rp1.5 billion for "famtrips", inviting the media as well as tourism players to tourist sites in Riau Islands to see firsthand the potential and Rp500 million for disseminating tourist information to find out the various destinations that can be visited, including those in the Anambas Islands. and Natuna.

"Hopefully, our target is that in early February 2022, we will soon be able to invite as many tourists from various countries as possible to come to Riau Islands," the governor said in a statement, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 15.

The Riau Islands Provincial Government will cooperate with local travel agents to sell tour packages on famtrips.

The governor targets the tourism sector to be opened to foreign tourists by 2022.

"All of these things must be written with the central government. At least they will ask the center to immediately open tourism with the Riau Islands," said the governor.

On that occasion, the Governor appealed to the public to continue to comply with health protocols so that there would be no spike in cases of COVID-19 transmission during the year-end holiday season.

The governor also invited tourism actors to continue to make breakthroughs by taking advantage of loosening rules for community activities in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Because only with the foresight of tourism actors, Riau Islands tourism can continue to rise. The most important thing is to continue to be creative in making breakthroughs," said the Governor.

According to the Governor, tourism based on the beauty of the sea is currently a trend, with many residents choosing to vacation at the beach.

He said the tourism potential must be managed properly, so that many people come to travel.

In line with the Governor, the Chair of the Central Astindo DPP Pauline Suherno also invited tourism business operators to take advantage of government policies that relaxed various rules, including those related to flights.

"We must continue to take advantage of this moment, by cooperating with many parties to sell various tour packages. We also make massive promotions that inform our tourism readiness to receive guests," he said.
