DPR Asks OJK To Follow Police In Hunting Chinese Citizen Who Becomes Financier For Online Loan (Pinjol)

JAKARTA - A foreign citizen (WNA) from China was arrested by the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes (Dittipideksus) of the National Police-Criminal Investigation Department for being an illegal online loan financier (pinjol) in Indonesia.

The foreigner is suspected of being the mastermind behind the founding of the Savings and Loans Cooperative (KSP) which houses a number of illegal loans.

Responding to this, Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Wihadi Wiyanto, said that the fast movement of the National Police should be imitated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in dismantling illegal lending practices. According to him, OJK should be diligent in conducting socialization so that people do not become victims of borrowing again.

"This is where we are waiting for clarity on the OJK's steps towards loan lending.
