Regarding Allegations Of Corruption In Formula E And The PCR Business, Firli Bahuri: KPK Will Not Indiscriminate

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri emphasized that his institution would follow up on two corruption allegations stemming from public reports, namely those related to the PCR test business and the Formula E racing event in DKI Jakarta.

In the alleged business in the process of procuring PCR test kits, there were two ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet who were reported to the KPK. They are Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandajaitan and Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir.

"Regarding the alleged criminal acts of corruption including the alleged corruption of Formula-E and the PCR test, we are working," said Firli as quoted from his Twitter account @firlibahuri on Friday, November 5.

The former deputy for the prosecution of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) ensured that anyone involved in the alleged corruption would be dealt with indiscriminately. This is done as an effort by the KPK to realize a corruption-free Indonesia.

"The KPK will never tire of eradicating corruption. Whoever the perpetrator is, we will take firm action in accordance with legal provisions," said Firli.

"The KPK will not indiscriminately. KPK works professionally according to the adequacy of evidence," he added.

Previously reported, the KPK admitted that it had examined several parties related to allegations of corruption related to the implementation of the international Formula E racing event which will be held in DKI Jakarta. However, it is not detailed who the parties who have been summoned and examined are.

Meanwhile, for the alleged PCR business, the anti-corruption commission has just received a report from the People's Fair and Prosperous Party (PRIMA). The reason for the Deputy Chairperson of PRIMA Alif Kamal to report the two ministers is because of the suspicion that this business is making people difficult in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, this report was made because the price of PCR tests often changes and the basic price is not clear. He views that there is no disclosure of information so that people are confused.
