DKI Regional Representative Council Asks Live Music Musicians To Do Routine Swab Tests

JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government has again allowed live music in restaurants or hotels. The chairman of Commission B of the DKI Regional Representative Council (DPRD), Abdul Aziz, suggested that musicians, especially vocalists, carry out routine swab tests.

"If it's live music, it's impossible for the vocalist to wear a mask, so I suggest doing a routine swab, especially before a gig", said Aziz in his statement, Tuesday, June 15.

He views that live music activities are still the cause of the gathering of people even though they are only allowed to operate in hotels and restaurants.

Aziz asked the management of the place of business that held live music to pay attention to the health protocols of the musicians who performed. Musicians must keep their distance from the audience.

"It must be ensured that the process is really strict. I also urge you to sing only on stage, don't go around", he said.

In addition, Aziz also recommended that live music be performed in outdoor dining areas to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

"Don't let live music be done in a closed room with AC. At least the ventilation of the room is adequate and an air purifier is installed. It's even better if the live music is done outdoors, that's a smaller risk”, he explained.

Therefore, Commission B of the DKI DPRD will evaluate the impact of coronavirus transmission from the live music event two weeks after being allowed to return on June 1, 2021 yesterday.

"The DPRD has the main function of overseeing the policies that have been agreed upon, so at this time we are still monitoring the implementation and what impact it will have, then we will evaluate it after two weeks", said Aziz.

For information, the DKI Provincial Government has again allowed live music in restaurants, and bars in Jakarta. Previously, the DKI Provincial Government banned live music during the month of Ramadan.

This is stated in the Decree of the Head of the DKI Disparekraf Number 281 of 2021 concerning the Extension of Micro-Based Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in the Tourism Business Sector which was issued on May 31, 2021.

However, in his decision, the head of the DKI Department of Tourism and Creative Economy (Disparekraf), Gumilar Ekalaya, stated the conditions that must be met if a business place wants to hold live music. One of them is that visitors are prohibited from contributing songs.

"The organization of live music which is a restaurant and hotel business facility can operate with the condition that visitors are prohibited from contributing singing songs", said Gumilar, quoted from the decree.

Not only that, restaurants or hotels that want to hold live music must have a tourism business registration sign (TDUP).

Then, the number of personnel is adjusted to the size of the stage so that everyone can keep their distance and not crowd each other.
