Vidi Aldiano Freed From Copyright Lawsuit For 'Nuansa Bening' Song

JAKARTA - Vidi Aldiano was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief after successfully winning a copyright dispute over the legendary song "Nuansa Bening" filed by its original creators, Keenan Nasution and Rudi Pekerti.

The Central Jakarta District Court ruled that Vidi was released from the lawsuit and free from the threat of compensation payments which amounted to Rp28.4 billion.

Based on a search from the Case Investigation Information System (SIPP) of the Central Jakarta District Court on Friday, November 21, this legal case began when Keenan and Rudi, with Minola Sebayang's attorney, registered a copyright lawsuit at the Central Jakarta Commercial Court.

The lawsuit was registered with Number 51/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Cipta/2025/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst on May 16, 2025.

The main problem in the initial lawsuit stated that there was an alleged violation of Copyright committed by Vidi, who was referred to as the Defendant.

The violation refers to the use of the song "Nuansa Bening" for 31 commercial performances without obtaining permission from the Plaintiffs as songwriters.

As a result, Keenan demanded compensation in cash. As collateral, he also asked for a guarantee (conservatoir beslag) of Vidi's land and house building on Jalan Kecapi, South Jakarta.

This case does not stop at one lawsuit. The songwriters filed a second lawsuit with Number 73/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Cipta/2025/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst on June 30, 2025.

This time, Vidi was accused of violating Copyright for distributing or distributing the song commercially through three digital music platforms 'Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music' without the approval of the Plaintiff.

Not long ago, Rudi, one of the songwriters, re-registered the third lawsuit. Case No. 74/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Cipta/2025/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst was registered on July 3, 2025.

In this lawsuit, Vidi was sued for changing the name of the songwriter "Nuansa Bening" on the three digital platforms. In addition to changing names, Vidi was also required to pay a loss fine of Rp900 million.

The good news for the singer whose full name is Oxavia Aldiano is based on the Central Jakarta District Court SIPP The three copyright lawsuits that are repeatedly directed at him are declared unacceptable by the panel of judges.

The decision of the panel of judges was based on the granting of the exception submitted by Vidi Aldiano as the Defendant. With the granting of the exception, the panel of judges considered that there was no need to continue the examination of the subject matter.
