JAKARTA - The issue of royalties in Soegi Bornean has again become a hot topic of conversation in the Indonesian music industry in the last two days. This shows how the dispute between Fanny Soegi and her old group.

Starting from Fanny through her personal X account, the 25-year-old singer revealed how Soegi Bornean's injustice in distributing royalties from their songs.

"Just imagine, the song Asma that you hear everywhere, the creators have borrowed money to pay for their children's school. The nominal value of this song royalties is no joke, more than half a billion, but instead people who don't have the rights can be the most & not transparent," wrote Fanny via X, Sunday, September 8.

Then, Soegi Bornean through the group's Instagram account explained that the distribution of song royalties had been agreed upon by all parties, including Fanny.

Regarding Royalti Asmalibration. From the start of receiving Royalti Asmalibrasi money, we management distributed according to the agreed nominal. Fanny was always involved in the royalty distribution decision. We also have no problem with creators and are still communicating well. There is even cooperation in one of the works on the new album Step Rupa," reads Soegi Bornean's statement in Instagram upload, Monday, September 9.

Seeing how the two argued with each other, VOI tried to see how Soegi Bornean gave credit to songwriters on Spotify, in a context before and after Fanny left the group.

Since 2019 until Fanny left the group, there have been eight songs with single creators recorded on behalf of Soegi Bornean.

Only two songs recorded as having more than one creator, namely the song "Semenjana" which was recorded on behalf of Aditya Ilyas, Erick Parkers, Fanny Siege (possibly a data input error), Fanny Soegi; and the song "Aguna" which was recorded on behalf of Aditya Ilyas Saputra, Bagas Prasetyo, Erry Budi Prasetyo, Fanny Soegi.

The two songs, called Fanny via X, 'Asmaralibrasi' and 'Raksa', were recorded on behalf of Soegi Bornean as creators. Fanny herself did not explain in detail who the person entitled to receive royalties from these songs.

After Fanny's departure from Soegi Bornean in March 2024, the pattern of giving song credit changed. All songs are recorded as individuals and not groups.

There are at least four songs that have been released via Spotify at the time of writing.

The 'Landgas' released on May 6 was recorded by songwriter Aditya Ilyas, Aditya Ilyas Saputra (possibly a data input error), Dik Fendi, Erry Budi Prasetyo, and Sunyi Ruri.

Mantra Puja which was released on June 6 was recorded with songwriters Aditya Ilyas, Erry Budi Prasetyo, and Sunyi Ruri.

The Gence Ruan released on July 6 was recorded with songwriters Aditya Ilyas and Sunyi Ruri.

The 'Legawa' released on August 12 was recorded with songwriters Aditya Ilyas, Erick Parkers, and Sunyi Ruri.

For information, credit recorded on Spotify is not identical to royalty recipients. For mechanical rights, recipients of economic rights are names recorded in the music publisher or aggregator. Meanwhile, for performance royalties (performing rights), recipients of economic rights are names recorded in the Collective Management Institute (LMK).

However, the inaccuracies in giving song credit indicate an alleged violation of the moral rights of songwriters.
