MPR Holds The Early Plenary Session For The Term Of Office 2024-2029 On October 1

JAKARTA - Plt. MPR Secretary General Siti Fauziah said the MPR would hold the MPR Plenary Session at the Beginning of the 2024-2029 Term to inaugurate MPR members from the 2024 General Election on October 1.

"On October 1, there will be a trial for the inauguration of new members," said Siti as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 21.

He explained that the agenda of the MPR Plenary Session at the Beginning of the 2024-2029 Term was the inauguration of DPR members for the 2024-2029 period, the inauguration of DPD members for the 2024-2029 period, and the inauguration of MPR members for the 2024-2029 period.

He said that the members of the MPR for the period 2024-2029 would increase compared to the number of MPR for the 2019-2024 period, which amounted to 711 members.

"Later in the 2024-2029 period there will be 732 (members), so there will be additional both from the DPR and from the DPD, if the DPD is clear because of the development of the province which will definitely increase," he said.

Meanwhile, he said, the leadership of the MPR for the period 2024-2029 would consist of eight people from the political party faction in the DPR and one person from the DPD group.

This number, he continued, experienced a reduction compared to the leadership of the MPR for the 2019-2024 period, which amounted to 10 people.

"So there are nine, one less for the leadership of the MPR," he said.

After the inauguration agenda, the MPR will hold a meeting to establish board equipment (AKD) and others on October 2.

Meanwhile, both the DPR and DPD will hold their respective leadership elections.

"The DPR for the election itself, maybe in the Plenary Meeting Room, Nusantara II Building, yes, if the DPD is in the Plenary Meeting Room, (Develop) Nusantara V," he said.

After the election of the leadership of the DPR and DPD is carried out, then the MPR leadership election will be held.

"It is possible that the inauguration of the MPR leadership will be on the 3rd or 4th (October), depending on the inauguration or election of the leadership of the DPR and its DPD," he said.

The MPR Plenary Session at the Beginning of the 2024-2029 Term will be attended by President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

The MPR Plenary Session for the inauguration of the President and Vice President for the 2024-2029 period will be held on October 20.
