Joyland Festival Bali 2024 Complete Line Up By Presenting Electronic Musicians From Bali And Asia

JAKARTA - The 2024 Bali Festival will be enlivened by the presence of world and national musicians such as James Blake, Kings of Convention, Todd Terje, Gilles Peterson, Whitney, Ali, Hindia, Isyana Sarasvati, Nadin Amizah, The SIGIT and White Shoes & The Couples Company.

It doesn't stop there, Plainsong Live as the promoter will also present Lily Pad who will feature a series of exciting electronic musicians from Bali and Asia who have been selected by the guest curator.

Kasimyn from Gabber Modus Operandi will present a special edition of the Kepus Pungsed initiative which highlights the contemporary and experimental music scene of Bali through the performances of Gangsar, Graung, Gumatt Gumit Gospell, Kadapa, Putu Septa & Nata Swara, and Rule Kabatram.

"Bali is huge, and Kepus Pungsed is an attempt to gather the experimental talents of Balinese music that are wild, independent, rooted, while having a dialogue with technology," Kasimyn said of the music project presented in a press release received by VOI, Monday, February 19.

Lily Pad will also present selected artists and cultural activists from Yogyakarta, Wok the Rock. They have invited LnHD (Myanmar), rEMPIT gOdDe$ (Malaysia), Mong Tong (Taiwan), PraED (Lebanon) and Rin Cap Dudi (Vietnam).

Ferry Dermawan as Program Director of Joyland Festival said that the presence of electronic musicians was decided by considering the requests of music lovers in Bali as well as providing the best experience for those who came.

"The evaluation of Joyland Bali is more electronic music, because we see that the audience in Bali prefers the genre to the audience in Jakarta. But how does it require a high commitment to come to the festival, so we have to think carefully about the festival experience as a whole. That's what we offer in Joyland, "said Ferry Dermawan.

In addition to the music performance, the Shrooms Garden stage, which is hosted and curated by Soleh Solihun, will present the action of several of the biggest names in Indonesian singles comedy, such as Mo Sidik, Mamat Alkatiri and Sakdiyah Ma'ruf.

Meanwhile, the outdoor cinema Cinema Cinerillaz will show short films selected by the Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF), such as Deer Shadow, My Old Friend (Timoteus Anggawan Kusno, 2024), Of Other Tomorrows Never Known (Natasha Tontey, 2023).

In addition, the White Peacock family-friendly area will provide a variety of workshops and activities that trigger the creativity of young children. This workshop and activity include painting and crafting with recycled materials.

Ahead of the Bali Joyland Festival, a free pre-event will be held on February 25 at Le Bajo for the launch of the official Joyland Festival Bali 2024 merchandise, and will feature a DJ set by White Shoes & The Couples Company. Then, on February 27 at Club Soda, there will be a DJ set performance by Ali.
