Camp Broadway Indonesia Consistently Prints International Musical Talent

JAKARTA - The musical performance art ecosystem in Indonesia is increasingly penetrating the world stage. This commitment was reiterated through the Mainstage Jakarta 2026 Finale Showcase which was staged by Asa Pentas Mahakarya Academy at Beacon Academy Theatre, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Saturday, July 4.

This year, the intensive program of Camp Broadway Indonesia (CBI) presents two international mentors from the United States to train young talents aged 9 to 17 years old from various regions in Indonesia, even Singapore.

Camp Broadway Indonesia Artistic Director, Adit Marciano, revealed that the consistency of the program which has entered its fourth year is a real step in strengthening the creative industry in the country.

"The continuation of this program reflects Camp Broadway Indonesia's commitment to continue contributing to strengthening the performing arts ecosystem in Indonesia through quality, creative, and inclusive arts education," said Adit before the Jakarta Mainstage 2026 Finale Showcase.

Bring Broadway Standardization to Indonesia

The two names brought directly from New York and Florida are Kristine Bendul and Robby Stamper. Kristine Bendul, a veteran performer who has been active on the New York City Broadway stage for decades, is back as director and choreographer for the fourth time.

Meanwhile, the position of music director is filled by Robby Stamper, a professional composer and vocal director who has a long track record with Walt Disney World, including his involvement in the production of legendary musical theater such as The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and Mary Poppins.

For Stamper, teaching in Indonesia was his first international experience that was very memorable.

"I feel very lucky to be able to travel around the world and bring my talent here. Thank you, Adit, for bringing me here. This is the first time I have traveled internationally to teach, and I feel this will not be the last," said Stamper.

For six consecutive days, participants were mobilized with basic material for Broadway-style musical theater, namely singing, acting, and dancing ensembles using official licensed scripts from Music Theatre International.

The Mainstage Jakarta 2026 Finale Showcase performance carries songs and scenes from the musical production The Addams Family.

Spread to Singapore and Papua

Enthusiasm for the Mainstage Jakarta Summer Camp 2026 is spreading. From a total of 16 participants (campers), they not only come from the Jabodetabek area, but also from Purwokerto, Surabaya, Malang, Singapore, even to Papua.

Uniquely, the stage of the Finale Showcase this time also became a cross-generational collaboration event. CBI involved featured players, namely Erika Prihadi (a graduate of New York University) as Wednesday Addams and Robertus Darren Radyan as Gomez Addams.

Not only focusing on performance on stage, CBI also honed their skills behind the scenes through the apprenticeship program. One of the CBI Ensemble 2024 alumni who performed at Carnegie Hall, New York, Mars Nadindra, was again involved as a production team.

In addition, Jane Callista, who is an alumni of CBI Ensemble 2023 and also won the Grand Prize Winner of the DIF Musical Star Competition in Korea, was appointed as the host.

"It feels great to be involved and involved with Camp Broadway Indonesia, which is a very special place for Indonesian children not only to develop talent, express themselves, but also a place where they can build their character through art," said Jane.
