Jay Weinberg Will Return To The Music Stage, The First Time Since Being Fired By Slipknot

JAKARTA - Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg announced his first show since being sacked by the masked metal band late last year.

Last Wednesday, Weinberg announced via Instagram that he would be back behind the drum kit alongside Infectious Grooves, a supergroup consisting of Suicide Tendencies, Faith No More, and Metallica members, for the band's performance at Byron Bay, Australian Festival, Bluesfest.

"I feel honored and excited to go to Australia with legendary Infectious Grooves for a special show at Bluesfest," Weinberg wrote in his statement, before stating that he had another project yet to be announced: "Later on to find out more."

Infectious Grooves is a bent metal supergroup consisting of vocalist Mike Muir and guitarist Dean Pleasants of Suicide Tendencies and Metallica's Rob Trujillo. Weinberg will replace original drummer Brooks Wackerman of the Average Sevenfold, who could not play on the Bluesfest date.

According to the official Bluesfest website, Dave Kushner of Velvet Revolver will also replace one of the band's guitarists, namely Jim Martin of Faith No More.

Bluesfest, which is mostly based on music and blues, will take place between March 28 and April 1, and will also feature Jack Johnson, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Elvistars and The Imposters, Tom Jones, Drive-By Truckers, Snarky Puppy, and more.
