JAKARTA - The G7 countries emphasize the need for a strong "security arrangement" to ensure a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
The G7 warned Moscow to follow Kyiv to agree to a ceasefire or face further sanctions, according to the draft final statement.
"Members of the G7 asked Russia to respond by approving a ceasefire with the same conditions and implementing it fully," said G7 countries, consisting of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States, in a final statement draft seen by Reuters, Friday, March 14.
The draft, which was approved by the senior diplomats, still requires the green light from the ministers, G7 officials said.
"They stressed that any ceasefire should be respected and underscore the need for strong and credible security arrangements to ensure that Ukraine can prevent and defend itself from any new acts of aggression," the G7 said.
