Beyoncé is Being Accused of Copying Japanese Designer for 'Renaissance' Tour Robot Headwear

JAKARTA - Beyoncé allegedly copied a Japanese designer for the headdress of her 'Renaissance' tour robot.

Hajime Sorayama is an illustrator known for his detailed, hyperfeminine, erotic robots. In the past, he has worked with The Weeknd, where he erected a giant statue of one of his robots for his current 'After Hours Til Dawn' tour.

Now, the artist is accusing Beyoncé of copying one of her designs for the headpiece she wore during her 'Renaissance' tour. He took to Instagram to write: “Yo Beyoncé, you should have asked me “officially” so I could make a better job for you like my man The Weeknd.”

He then shared a photo of the headpiece, along with its resemblance to one of the illustrations.

Beyoncé's look seemed to be inspired by Thierry Mugler's 1995 AW95 collection. Several outlets reported that the collection itself apparently, took inspiration from Sorayama's robots and the anime film Metropolis.

Meanwhile, other media reported that Sorayama was actually working with the fashion legend, but it is currently unclear whether this report is true.

Beyoncé recently released her ‘Renaissance’ tour concert film, which features her new song ‘MY HOUSE’ over the end credits.

NME reviewed the ‘Renaissance’ tour on its first night in London and gave it four stars, saying: “It was refreshing to witness the joy that flowed throughout the show; no one can deny that Beyoncé is one of music's most talented giants, but now her performance is lighter and offers something new.”
