Ending The Year With A Recycling Song Titled Quiet, Rieka Roeslan Welcomes 2024 With Joy

JAKARTA - Rieka Roeslan has just re-released his song, entitled Sepi. The song from the album Mata, Ear & Heart released by The Groove in 2001 has a deep meaning for him.

"Alhamdulillah, finally I was able to complete this Sepi work with the help of my friends. Actually, through this song I want to close my loneliness in 2023," said Rieka Roeslan at Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta, Tuesday, December 12.

"I want this quiet to be over and we will welcome 2024 with joy with better hopes. Better also for songwriters," he continued.

In reworking Sepi, the former vocalist of The Groove was assisted by Ali Akbar in the arrangement, Echa Soemantri on drums, Ari Firman on bass, and Typhoon Abhimanyu on guitar, Brury Effendy and Bonny Buntoro on horn section, and Dimas Pradipta in the mixing and mastering process.

Meanwhile, fellow songwriters who are members of the All-Indonesian Composite Association (AKSI) are also involved in the video clip. Piyu as the General Chair of ACTION even took part at the end of the video clip. In addition, there are also several students who have studied vocals with Rieka, such as Tata Early and Daffa Bagaskara.

What is described in the video clip tells the story of what happened to Rieka Roeslan who reunites with The Groove at the end of 2022 and joins ACTION in 2023.

The current story itself returns after a solo career and joins (the Groove), and solo again. I want this to be a prayer for me to have a lot of new friends. Hopefully this quietness can turn into happiness," said Rieka.

The singer from Bandung also wants to voice his belief that songwriters should receive more appreciation in the national music industry.

Talking about the song Sepi, Rieka called it one of the hits that had been created. For him, it is not easy to make works that are well received by many people.

"This is more about how songwriters are, we want to fight for and pay attention," he said.

For information, Sepi is one of the singles to be included in a compilation album titled Story of My Life which is planned to be released by Rieka Roeslan in 2024.
