Paul McCartney Reportedly Sings Beatles Song After 62 Years at Taylor Swift's Wedding

JAKARTA - Paul McCartney is rumored to have performed the Beatles' song, "I Want To Hold Your Hand", for the first time in 62 years. The rare performance is said to have taken place at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding reception at Madison Square Garden, New York, Friday.

Quoted from HuffPost, Monday, July 6, McCartney performed at the wedding party with Stevie Nicks. People reported that the two filled the event after the wedding ceremony was completed.

People's source said Taylor Swift's mother, Andrea, invited guests to enter the reception room which was equipped with a stage.

"After the ceremony, Taylor's mom, Andrea, invited everyone to the reception room where the stage was set up," the source told People.

McCartney is said to have performed "I Want To Hold Your Hand", the Beatles' number one hit. According to Rolling Stone, the last known performance of the song was on September 20, 1964 at a Beatles concert at the Paramount Theatre, New York.

McCartney's representatives did not immediately return a request for confirmation.

McCartney and Swift have had a good relationship for a long time. In 2020, the two appeared together on the cover of the Rolling Stone Musicians on Musicians issue. In the interview, the two musicians across generations praised each other's work.

Before that, McCartney and Swift had also performed together at a number of parties. McCartney even said there was a resemblance between the fame of The Beatles and Swift's popularity.

Swift has also backed fan theories that her song, "Sweet Nothing", was inspired by McCartney and his first marriage.

Swift and Kelce's wedding reportedly took place in a festive atmosphere with more than 1,000 guests. Adam Sandler is said to have led the wedding ceremony.

A number of big names are also reported to be present, ranging from Gigi Hadid, Paul Rudd, Nelly, Conan O'Brien, to Hugh Grant.

Swift's younger brother, Austin, became the Man of Honor, the bride's honorary companion. Meanwhile, Kelce's older brother, Jason, became the best man or the main man's companion.

After the couple officially married, the screen outside Madison Square Garden displayed the words "JUST&T MARRIED". The writing is a play on words from the phrase "just married" and the initials of Taylor and Travis' first names.
