Adrian Vandenberg's Confession Was Asked To Join Ozzy Osbourne 40 Years Ago

JAKARTA - In a new interview with Canada's The Metal Voice, Dutch guitarist Adrian Vandenberg was asked if Ozzy Osbourne or KISS had ever been approached to join their band.

It is known, Vandenberg, the band formed by Adrian, was the opening of the two legendary rock bands in the 1980s.

"Yes. A story I've never told before, but it's actually Ozzy. The first time I met him during the [183] tour, when we started, but I had to say he was a bit drunk, of course this is very unusual for Ozzy," Adrian opened the story.

"But, yes, his tour manager introduced me to him, and he was in the lunch room of one of the hotels. And he said, 'Adrian, do you want to join my band?' I said, 'Wow, we support you guys. And Jake [E. Lee, Ozzy guitarist at that time] was a fantastic player.' And he talked about something, like, 'We're going to keep in touch or whatever'."

"But then, some people mentioned that Don Airey and some other people in the band told Ozzy that my style of play has a lot to do with Randy Rhoads' game in terms of classic influences, such as the combined type of Euro metal music with American music, blues, and whatever."

"I'm not very familiar with Randy's game, because Ozzy wasn't popular in Europe at the time - he was very famous in America. So when we got an invitation to support him, I was a bit surprised. I thought, 'Wow, Ozzy.' I didn't really know he was that big in America. "

Vandenberg himself released his latest studio album, Sin, on August 25 through the Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group. The album was recorded in the Netherlands and Los Angeles with producer Bob Marlette (Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie).
