10 Years Of Wrecking Ball, Miley Cyrus Remembers Her Quarrel With Sinead O'Connor

JAKARTA - Miley Cyrus recalled her fight with Sinead O'Connor to mark her 10th birthday of her song, Wrecking Ball.

After the song was released a decade ago, Sinead wrote an open letter to Miley after the pop star called the late Irish singer an inspiration for the explicit Wrecking Ball video clip.

In the letter, Sinead warned Miley not to let the music industry turn itself into a "short", and Miley then responded by posting photos of Sinead in a fragile mental state and comparing them with actress Amanda Bynes, who was hospitalized after mental disorders in the same year.

Now, to commemorate Wrecking Ball's birthday, Miley spoke to ABC about the reasons behind his message to Sinead and how he is feeling now.

At her new special event Endless Summer Vacation: Continued (Backyard Sessions), Miley said about her reaction to Sinead.

"I've predicted there will be controversy and reactions, but I don't expect any other women to demean me, especially her who has been in my position before," Miley opened.

That's when I received an open letter from Sinead O'Connor, and I didn't know about the fragile mental condition he was experiencing, and I was also only 20 years old, so I could only think about my mental illness. All I saw was another woman telling me that this idea was not my idea," he continued.

"Our childhood trigger and trauma arose in a strange and odd way, and I think I have been judged for a long time because of my own choice so I was exhausted, and I was in a place where I ended up making my own choices and decisions, and removing it from me really annoyed me."

However, at the end of his statement, Miley prayed for Sinead, who died on July 26, after being found unconscious at his home in London.

"God bless Sinead O'Connor, seriously, with all seriousness," he concluded.
