Hybrid Forestr Subaru Officially Launches, New Era Of Terlaris SUV

JAKARTA Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) reported vehicle sales of 46,354 units for January 2025, an increase of 4.1 percent compared to January 2024 (44,510 units). January also marked 30 consecutive months of increased sales year-on-year for this car manufacturer.

"The year 2025 is starting strong thanks to our Subaru dealer, whose hard work and dedication drive sales growth in another month. With exciting new models that will join the ranks of our award-winning vehicles, we are ready for a year of sustainable success," said the President and Chief Operating Officer of America, Inc Jeff Walters, quoted from the manufacturer's website, Friday, February 7.

Meanwhile, the Forester model still maintains its position as the best performing by volume with sales of 12,948 units, and Crosstrack sales followed behind it with 12,625 units sold in January.

Well, there is encouraging news for Subaru lovers, especially the best-selling Forester model in the United States (US). Especially for the 2025 model, Subaru, yesterday, February 6 for the first time, Subaru presented a hybrid Forester with no less attractive performance.

Powered by a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylindrical engine combined with two electric motors and 0.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Hybrid Forestr generates a combination power of 194 hp. This figure is slightly higher than the non-hybrid Forester which produces only 180 hp. However, the most interesting is a significant increase in fuel efficiency. Hybrid forests are able to record a figure of about 14.9 km/liter for a combination of highways and urban areas, much better than the non-hybrid version of 12.3 km/liters.

While reported by Car and Driver, in contrast to other hybrids, it is known that the driving system of all the symmetric wheels typical of Subaru is maintained. This means that the four wheels still get mechanical power from the hybrid powertrain, providing reliable performance in various road conditions. The X-Mode feature, SI-Drive, EV mode, and six-speed manual mode are also present to add a pleasant driving experience.

Although the battery capacity is small, it is only 0.7 kWh, this hybrid system is able to provide a significant power boost, especially when accelerating from a stationary position. This makes the Hybrid Forester feel more agile and responsive when driving in urban areas.

In terms of interior, the Hybrid Forester offers a comfortable and modern cabin. All variants are equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that can display navigation maps, an 11.6-inch Subaru multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, as well as panoramic sunscreen. Animal skin-free interior materials are also standard, except for the Touring variant.

The Hybrid Forestr 2025 will be available at dealers in the United States starting this spring with prices ranging from US$36,415 (around Rp612 million) for the Premium variant, to US$43,115 (around Rp725 million) for the Touring variant.

With a combination of good fuel efficiency, qualified performance, and modern features, the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid is ready to compete in the increasingly stringent compact SUV market in the US.
