JAKARTA - Malaysian car manufacturer Proton has opened its first production electric car order with the name eMas 7. This product has been sold thoroughly in Malaysia.

AnTARA reported that the estimated price of this electric car ranged from 120,000 Ringgit (around Rp432 million).

In addition to the very attractive initial price estimate, namely 120,000 Ringgit, Proton has announced a 'Perintis Special Rights Offering' accompanied by a 500 Ringgit discount (around Rp. 1.8 million) and a prize package worth 1,000 Ringgit (Rp. 3.6 million).

In addition to prices/packages and specifications, Proton also announced the launch of 'e.MAS App' in ACE 2024. This application is described as a dynamic platform designed to improve user experience ranging from ordering to ownership.

This application simplifies the management of vehicle bookings, service scheduling, and accesses the electric vehicle charging network in Malaysia.

Specifications

The eMas 7 is based on the Geely Galaxy E5 platform, but Proton says that the two companies are working together in developing this model, involving 230 Proton engineers and designers, 700 thousand working hours, and more than 10 million km of testing.

The electric motor installed in front produces 160 kW (218 PS) and 320 Nm of torque, and is claimed to be capable of accelerating 0-100 km/hour in 6.9 seconds. The highest speed of this car is 175 km/hour.

Proton says that the Cd 0.275 SUV value has lower wind resistance than bullets.

eMas 7 has two variants of EV, Prime and Premium. The basic Prime comes with a 49.52 kWh battery for a distance of 345 km WLTP, while the Premium gets a 60.22 kWh battery with a range of 410 km WLTP.

For charging, the maximum DC velocity is 80 kW for a 49.52 kWh battery and 100 kW for a 60.22 kWh unit, while the maximum AC charge is 11 kW for both.

Proton claims DC's fast charging time is 20 minutes from 30-80 percent of the SoC, or 30 minutes for a more conventional 10-80 percent measurement.

AC charging from 30-80 percent recharges smaller batteries in 4.9 hours, or 6.1 hours for 60.22 kWh units.

eMas 7 uses Geely's short-blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which is claimed to have a very long life.

Internal testing shows that after 921 full charging and emptying cycles, which are equivalent to a distance of 400,000 km, the battery's health rate reaches 90.5 percent. This electric car has also been equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to improve driving safety.
