Mercedes Prepares High Performance Electric Cars, Will Duel With Porsche Taycan Turbo GT

JAKARTA - Mercedes-AMG is reportedly working on the latest four-door high-performance electric sedan. This is evidenced by the catch of a spy camera showing this model being tested on the streets of Germany shrouded in camouflage.

Reporting from Carscoops, Tuesday, February 27, the car, known as the EV version of the AMG GT, has a design language resembling the concept of Vision AMG, which was shown in 2022. This car displays a more aerodynamic roof line and has an elongated engine and trunk hood.

The front and back lights display an aggressive and sporty impression, although there is a possibility that the lighting section design may change. In order to support aerodynamics, AMG's division added the back wing.

This electric car from AMG is expected to carry the latest AMG.EA architecture. This platform will be present for several high-performance electric vehicles (EVs) developed by the division.

It is also reported that this model will have a light electric motor developed by Yasa, a company that produces UK-based generators and a leaner solid battery pack than Sila based in the US.

Thus, the EV version of the Mercedes-AMG GT will have up to 1,000 dk of power. This means that the car will have a larger power compared to the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) brother Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4 Matic+ E Performance which has a power of up to 832 dk.

If true, then this car will be the ideal competitor for the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT which recorded the fastest time record at Nurburgring Nordschleife, Germany, with 7,07.55 or 18 seconds faster than previously obtained by the Tesla Model S Plaid.

Just like AMG GT EV, Taycan Turbo GT also has a combined power of up to 1,000 dk thanks to the three electric motors embedded in the model.
