Toyota Intends To Present A Central Engine Yaris GRMN, Stopped Because Of This

JAKARTA - Toyota GRMN Yaris is a limited-sale model with only 500 special units for the Japanese market and is positioned above from GR Yaris. The car successfully attracted the interest of the country's market in the sunrise but the manufacturer wanted to bring back this model with a different version.

The hatchback is powered by the front engine, so Toyota intends to present it with an embedded engine in the center or mid-engineered, inspired by a rally championship that still carries the well-known Group B regulation, such as the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, Renault 5 Turbo model, MG Metro 6R4, Lancia Delta S4, Ford RS200, and Audi Quattro Sport S1.

According to a Best Car report, Tuesday, December 5, the wide-body car was once under development. Unfortunately, it is reported that the manufacturer canceled the program.

Toyota intends to present the Yaris GRMN with a 3-cylinder 1.6 liter turbocharged engine that is moved from the front to the back axis in order to increase weight distribution. However, they canceled it because this model was only available in limited quantities and had little impact in all aspects.

What's more, the publication claims that interest in the Yaris GR may have decreased overseas, raising concerns about whether there is a market that supports this very special version of the model at a higher price.

Although this is believed to be the first time the prospect of a engined GRMN Yaris has emerged to the public, the company has not officially confirmed whether the project has actually been completely dismissed or not.
