Tesla Chooses Malaysia As Operational Business Base In Southeast Asia

JAKARTA - Electric vehicle companies from the United States (US), Tesla, are currently expanding its wings in the global market. They managed to visit regions such as North America, Europe, and Asia by presenting their products to various countries.

Recently, Tesla re-launched its business operations for Southeast Asia. The company led by Elon Musk entrusted Malaysia as the basis for its business operations as well as launching Model Y in neighboring countries.

Reporting from Nikkei Asia, Thursday, July 20, Malaysia was chosen as its operational headquarters for Southeast Asia, namely the support and policies made by its government for electric vehicles are very good.

What's more, there are plans that fast charging of Tesla Suoercharging will be presented in Malaysia. With this, the Malaysian government is willing to prepare its infrastructure.

Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, as Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, said that his party praised Tesla's performance in expanding in Malaysia.

"Tesla's presence here will also help improve Malaysia's pro-business and pro-investment credentials on the global stage and we look forward to welcoming more multinational investors who have the same vision to develop more sustainable, balanced and inclusive economic growth for our nation," said Abdul Aziz.

Continuing what Abdul Aziz, Liew Chan, as Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, said that the role of the government is very crucial by providing everything so that the electric vehicle ecosystem must be complete without favor of anyone.

"There is a huge value chain to be developed and Tesla's arrival is a boost," Liew said.

In order to accelerate the sustainability of the electric vehicle ecosystem, Tesla has provided indoor Supercharging located in a shopping center in Malaysia.

Not only that, Tesla has also opened online orders for Model Y and Model 3 for the neighboring country market. The US manufacturer has opened a headquarters as well as the Tesla Experience and Service Center as part of the Global Leaders Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) program in Malaysia.
