Mark Two Decades Of Existence, Sic Mynded Unleashes Jelaga 2020

JAKARTA - The Jakarta-based industrial rock troop, Sic Mynded, launched a brand-new album titled Jelaga 2020 since July 2. The album which contains 13 songs will take listeners to the long journey of Sic Mynded as a band with all the changes in it that make their music mature and have its own characteristics.

This album promotes the single song Jelaga 2020, Triggerdance, Save Your Kiss, and Peace Within which had been cast as separate songs at the end of February.

With the presence of Jelaga 2020 album, it means that 4 albums and 5 singles have been released since the band was founded by Oddie Octaviadi and Rudi Soedjarwo in San Diego city, the United States more than 20 years ago.

"In 1999, we launched an album entitled Jelaga and had received an AMI Awards nomination in the same year. In 2020, we are taking the opportunity to reintroduce old works that we previously recorded or re-mastered while releasing some new songs. 13 songs on Jelaga 2020 album were mostly written by Rudi and me, while the process of arranging and re-recording several old songs was produced by Marcell Siahaan," said Oddie, the vocalist, in a written statement received by VOI.

The band, which launched the album for the first time in 1995, experienced a vacuum due to Rudi's busy work as a director and Oddie with his work in the digital and communications fields. However, Rudi and Oddie have returned to join and have been active in music since the end of 2018 when a single titled Peace Within was worked on.

In 2019 Sic Mynded got new members, namely Marcell Siahaan, Gatot Alindo, Aldi Pagaruyung, and Adra Karim who each came to bring their unique musical style.

“The Sic Mynded songs on this new album represent the journey of my life to become a better human being. As a human being who is far from perfection, this album depicts the struggle and art in facing the challenges of life regardless of whether I have succeeded in achieving it or not,” said Rudi, the co-founder.

"'Jelaga 2020' album is the achievement of a spiritual journey to define life as it is, without always being seen in positive and religious 'packs' and 'cosmetics'. It doesn't have to be supposing, it doesn't have to be sweet. Towards wise, the journey is often seems not wise, and that is reality as it is,"

Apart from releasing the Jelaga 2020 album in digital form, Sic Mynded also plans to release the physical form at the end of July. This physical release will later contain several additional songs that were not included in the digital version.
